You do not “need” to learn some other genres, but keeping an open mind and being willing to you would immediately notice a difference regarding your own guitar playing.

Allowing yourself to become open to new methods of thinking pertaining to the guitar should assist in keeping your playing crisp. Don’t forget that it is much more than just playing the chords, it is how everything feels which would count.
