Blues Guitar Lesson

Blues Guitar Lesson –

What You Will Learn

One of the foundations of music today comes from the blues. Rock adopted its style and feel from the blues along with almost every other form including pop! Many people starting out with music are looking for a good and easy blues guitar lesson. The main reason for the blues guitar lesson is that the basic are easier to get down at first and can be massively built upon for a lifetime.

In a blues guitar lesson you will learn a few different basics from a few different areas i.e. scales – chords – and licks. One of the first blues guitar lesson will be the pentatonic scale. This scale is the foundation for what you’ll be learning in the future. The pattern is a 5 note pattern and is 2 notes per string which makes it easier to learn.

The other great thing about the pentatonic scale is being that it only has 5 notes. This is great when you are soloing over say a 12 –Bar Blues progression. Why? Well the conflicting notes are removed allow you to solo more freely and not worry about playing a sour note. So the first blues guitar lesson should cover that scale.

The next thing I like to teacher in a blues guitar lesson is power chords. They are 2 note chords that contain the root note and the 5th sometimes referred to a 5 chords or Rock Chords you see them in sheet music as E5 or D5 etc… These chords are the staple of rock and blues guitar and almost everyone learns this shape in the beginning. The shape is easy to play and can be moved all over the fretboard.

The next blues guitar lesson will be the 12 Bar Blues. The 12 Bar Blues is a 3 note progression, 12 measures long and follows a certain order. Once you hear it for the first time you’ll recognize it instantly in about a thousand tunes. There are many different variations but I teach the most common at first.

What I like to next is to have the student record themselves playing the 12 Bar Blues in the key of E and them from the previous blues guitar lesson (when we learned the pentatonic scale) start to solo over the progression. If they do not have means to record them we have an online jam box that loops hundred of backing tracks for them to try their hand at soloing and improvising.

So that’s the basics for now… If you are looking for an amazing blues guitar lesson please give us a try! Take the 14 Day Challenge and you won’t regret it. Your family and friends will be amazed of how much you have learned in just 2 weeks flat! Hope to see you in the member’s area…
